Class 4 Summer Term 2022
Here is a taste of what is to come this half term:
Maths:
As well as the usual curriculum for Year 4 and Year 5, this term, we will be working very hard on learning our times tables. The more time you can spend learning and practising your tables at home, the better. Any way of practising them is just fine, but as well as using TTRockstars, here are some really useful websites for you to look at too. TTRockstars will be set as homework each week and it is very important that you practise at least 3 times weekly.
English:
Our new book is "The Nowhere Emporium" by Ross MacKenzie. This is a riot of imagination, color and fantasy. An astonishing adventure which will inspire us to write our own fantastic stories.
Topic: This half term our focus is geography. We will be comparing Malham Tarn to Wilmslow and using OS maps to understand symbols, scale and grid references.
Science: Our next topic is States of Matter- What is a gas, a liquid or solid?
RE: This term we will be learning about Islam.
PE: This term we will be playing cricket, rounders and tennis. We will also look at different athletic skills. Please have your kit in school from Monday to Friday. Year 5s will be swimming on Monday afternoons from 9th May.
Music: Music lessons are on Tuesdays and Mrs. Young will continue with clarinet lessons on Tuesday afternoons for Year 4s.
Homework: This is given out on Thursdays and always due back on the following Tuesday.
Spellings: Spellings for each group are sent home in the first week of the half term and posted on the class page each half term.
Working From Home: If any child has to isolate from school, they will be able to find information for the week on the ONLINE LEARNING link on the class page.
