Class 4

Welcome to my new Class 4, some old friends in year 5 and some new children in Year 4.

We have already made a start on our first topic, British Willife and in the next few weeks we will be exploring the wildlife on our school site and further afield. I hope to arrange a day with Dan the ranger sometime soon, so that we can explore some native woodlands too. More details to follow.

Homework:   Home work is given each week on Thursday and expected to be returned to school the following Tuesday. Most weeks it will consist of a piece of Maths, a piece of English and regular reading. Our first piece of homework has been to back our Reading Record/Homework Books, using images from children's literature.

Reading Challenge: All the children in Class 5 will tell you that there is a big focus on reading in Class 4 and this year we will be running our Reading Challenge again. We have a large chart in the classroom, where we record the books we have read by a range of authors. Children who reach 10 books will be awarded their Bronze Award, 20 books gains Silver and 30 books gains Gold. I wonder if anyone will reach Platinum, 40 books; last year was an exceptional year where class 4 read nearly 500 books between them. Fingers crossed.
