Attendance

Good attendance is very important here at St Anne’s Fulshaw and we are delighted that our overall attendance remained high at 97.33% in 2016-17.

In accordance with the DfE’s guidance, we do not authorise absence from school for holidays during term time except in the most exceptional circumstances.

If your child is ill or has a medical appointment, please contact the school by telephone (01625 523536) or email ( admin@stannesfulshaw.net ) in the morning to confirm their absence, and on each morning thereafter.

Children suffering from sickness and diarrhoea MUST have 48 hours free from symptoms before returning to school in order to contain the spread of any illness.

The school may ask the local authority to issue fixed penalty notices on its behalf under the following circumstances:

  • At least ten sessions (five school days) lost due to unauthorised absence (O code) in any two consecutive half terms
  • Unauthorised leave of absence (G code) of at least ten sessions (five school days) due to holidays in term time
  • Persistent* late arrival at school, for example after the register has closed, in any two consecutive half terms

*Persistent – 10 late arrivals

Our children enter school and are registered at 8.50am. The register closes at 9.00am. Children arriving after 9.20am will be marked as late.

Please see the attached guidance from Cheshire East Council about fixed penalty notices.

The Council is reviewing its practice with regards to the issuing of Penalty Notices for term time holiday absence as a matter of priority  and is seeking urgent guidance from the DfE.
